Darren myspace blog: Madonna has a hot ass
Someone is in a playful mood today. lol

Madonna has a hot ass
Current mood: chipper

Konichiwa bitches..
It's Sunday (mmm) and I'm about to head out to the gym (ergh) to stay fit (yeah) so I can sing and play hard (wahoo) on tour (yeaaha!)
I still hate working out.
Does anyone love it?
When anyone asks me how was the gym? I say 'necessary'.
Never 'bliss!'.
I watched bits of Live Earth. I don't want the earth to melt. That's for sure.
But I don't know if the Pussycat Dolls can save us. Do you?
Still Madonna has a hot ass!
We went to Whole Foods today to buy something called 'forbidden rice' and it was very tasty. It should be forbidden it's so nice. And tonight I'm doing a satellite interview for Australia and tomorrow press for some big things including Attitude magazine in the U.K.
All week I'm doing late night (midnight my time) radio interviews to Australia and getting ready to do some promo for 'Verge..'
Willie Williams (my show designer and all round rock tart) has just opened an exhibition in Manchester at the Turnpike Gallery http://www.willieworld.com/TurnpikeMainPage.html
pretty amazing stuff.
I"m typing this blog so I don't have to work out. But I guess the time has come to work out.
Goodbye interweb.
Dontcha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?

Darren's new blog - Holiday snaps
Darren posted this new blog on his myspace
July 06, 2007
Holiday snaps
Current mood: rejuvenated

I just got back from spending 5 days in the English countryside with no phone, no laptop and no stress! It was pure bliss. I'm telling you this because I want to apologize to anyone who may have written and thought I went..'eh' and ignored you. No such chance interweb. I've come home to oodles of messages and I'm doing my darndest to get through 'em.
But oh what fun.
I got back yesterday and today walked right into a massive promo day.
I did a photoshoot for the Mail on Sunday and Boyz magazine as well as an interview for the Evening Standard.
It was fun.
Now..
Shall I divulge some holiday memories for you?
You can just pretend to be interested. I won't know.
I slept a lot.
A LOT. But I did a lot too.
My days were filled with things and naps.
And went something like this..
*Wake up WAY too early (jet lag) and work out at the gym while Richard slept
*Come back to the room and try to wake Richard up (doesn't work)
*Head downstairs for breakfast, watch rabbits on the lawn and read the paper
*Come back and Richard is ready to play (yay!)
*Head into a small village, buy a book I'll never read, have lunch
*Nap
*Go for walk and watch the sun set
*Eat
*Nap
*Watch a DVD
*Sleep. A Lot. Repeat cycle.
Somewherein there was romanticle stuff and the occasional excited artistic thought.
And I got some massages and a facial and something called an Indian head massage.
But in general it was extremely relaxing and only occasionally did I have heroin like withdrawal symptoms for my lap top (which surprised me!)
Lots of groovy stuff is happening.
The video is out there.
The music is out there.
Don't stress U.S - the single doesn't go to radio until near Autumn for an 08 release in North America (I want to devote some quality time to you..)
But it's all bout to explode.
I think.
Hehe
Right now I'm listening to rare 12 inch mixes of Kate Bush songs.
And about to go read some more of your messages.
Or I might eat some yoghurt.
But the point is, I'm baaack!

It's been 3 weeks so the body clock is definitely in shock. Got home yesterday morning and resisted sleep until 3pm. Crashed. Woke at 8pm. Worst possible thing you can do. All outta whack now.

O.K so the in flight entertainment on the plane didn't work
Originally Published For Members 25 March 2007

O.K so the in flight entertainment on the plane didn't work. And I know there are a million worse things in the world - but for someone who travels as much as I do - those bloody movies make the monotony of traveling half way around the world at least bearable.
I didn't buy a magazine and my laptop was dying - and there I was on a 13 hour flight in the middle of the day pretty much bored out of my brains. No ipod either. Nothing.
I took some solace in the fact that I could possibly sleep - but the 'bed' which I've now renamed the 'sled' was essentially a limp banana lounge which, upon lulling me into sleep, also left me curled up almost on the floor hours later. Gravity and all that.
Still I know I can't complain - and for those of you reading this screaming the words 'economy' at me I say this : I've served my time! For the first year of having a record deal I flew Brisbane to Frankfurt about 10 times in one year. In the middle seat of a row of 3 right at the back of the plane. I travelled in those first few years more than most flight attendants would and I definitely learned the art of survival crouched up in the foetus position that is economy. Living in Australia, I guess you just accept the fate of long distance travel.
I say the movies didn't work, but that's sort of not entirely true. They managed to find 3 films that were screened on a loop for 13 hours. 3 films that even people living under rocks would have seen on DVD. Let's just sayI really could have done without seeing 'Little Miss Sunshine' for the 34th time. As good as that movie is, it gets real old after about the 8th time.
The weird thing about the t.v's on this plane is that apparently it happens all the time. Boyd said it was the 4th time in a row that he's flown this airline and the box's were on the blink. But still - there are worse things - like jet lag!
I still think the travel is probably the hardest part of this job. Not the high notes. Not the stress. But the sheer act of propelling your body through space constantly - in and out of time zones - and sucked dry of all moisture. Sometimes I wish you literally could beam yourself around the world. But knowing my luck, I'd do that and my balls would end up in lost luggage.
Imagine explaining that to your kids!

I'm loving these venues. It's tough. And it's rewarding. And I have nowhere to hide. That gets me anxious and that makes me explode into the music.
Sang 'How to build a Time Machine' whilst looking directly at my Mum. And I knew it was a photograph I took with my mind to look at one day in the Future when I'll need it.
Thanks Boyd, David, Steve, Keith and certainly Justin Shave.
Thanks Antigone for singing so beautifully and trying to calm my nerves.

Before I get into this whole tirade about the flu virus that's been raging inside me for a week, I'm fine. And my voice is fine! But let me tell you about what's been going on. Arggh.
So in the car on the way to Heathrow I felt it begin. I had the most insane rush of fever. Hot and then cold. Sweating and then freezing. And then on the plane I had stomach cramps and nausea. Fun. 27 hours of travelling with all those symptoms. When I got to Melbourne it was in the middle of a heat wave and of course I was boiling hot on the inside anyway. We filmed the t.v show in Melbourne and lucky for me it was a comedy show so my delirious head space actually helped. Thankfully I had these 2 days off in Sydney. And seriously I've been in bed that whole time! Just sweating it out. Taking every vitamin known to man, gargling all the elixirs and finally taking the dreaded antibiotics. And it's finally broken. But jeez! It fought!
And in the middle of all of this, was the ticket drama. I got a phone call at midnight as the drama was going down and I literally had to deal with it myself. I was upset that things messed up again and wanted to make sure I could give you guys an explanation as to what happened. But you can imagine me, looking like someone was throwing buckets of water over me off camera in some bizarre reality nightmare as the flu raged and so did my temper! Lol.
The good news is – looks like quite a few 'regulars' managed to get ticket both via myspace and on sale and I think we've sufficiently terrified the ticket agency enough to get their act together next time.
And I can sing.
Right now it's Tuesday, show day and I'm so grateful I feel better! And my Mum is about to arrive at the hotel with my favorite Aunt and we're going to lunch. Oh how very posh.
Ahhh to feel better! You don't realize how much you value your health until it goes down.
Fingers crossed for tonight. Break a leg and all that.

Melbourne and Sydney

O.K so jetlag is really bad this time! We arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon after the world's longest flight and had work at 3pm the next day. It was almost impossible to get into a normal headspace but it kind of helped for the job at hand. I think I woke at 3am and by 6am I gave in to the lag and just got up and got ready for the day.
I was a guest on a fantastic t.v show in Melbourne called 'Spicks and Specks' which is essentially the Australian version of 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' (only kinder! Lol) It was a lot of fun. Everyone on the show was so kind and sweet and I just loved it. I was, however, spaced out the entire time and by the time we got back to our hotel that night – was so hungry I could have eaten a horse.
I was in no mood to eat the 'fish pie' on the room service menu; so still in t.v makeup and a suit and tie I lined up for take out chicken with the locals. Ended up devouring it in my bed and collapsing some time around midnight. Blacked out.
Woke up just in time to pack and make our flight.
Today, we flew to Sydney and I've checked in to my hotel for the weekend. I've got breakfast radio and 'Sunrise' t.v show to do early Monday morning so am going to use this time to hopefully rest and get my body clock back into the swing of things.
This is such a quick and busy trip – I almost can't believe I'm flying around the world in less than 2 weeks and singing almost as much as I would on a regular tour! But it's so fun to be playing this stuff live. I think I'm probably more excited to release it than you are to hear it.
Those of you attending delicacy – keep an ear out for the pre show and after show music. I chose it, mixed it and have snuck in a few suprises for you. F.Y.I.
Hehe.
O.K I'm off to watch some bad reality t.v.
Love you!

Myspace Blog From Darren - it is done

Saturday, June 30, 2007
it is done
Current mood: drained

Well, it's over. It's done. Club Delicacy is no more.
But oh what a ride!
Woke up this morning and I honestly didn't know how I was going to get through this day. I had planned on being home in London on Thursday with Friday to recover and then Sat to perform both the Pride gig and my own show at Soho Revue bar.
No such luck.
The minute I got off the plane (the disaterous 26 hour flight from New York to London)
I had to work. I was doing the final approval of the video for 'Verge' and then had a 2 hour managment meeting. I went to bed Friday night and was really so wrecked that I didn't know how I'd fare today.
Well, woke up this morning and decided to just get into it. I spent some time doing a new mix cd to be hidden around the venue (did anyone find one?) and then got ready for Pride.
It was nightmare traffic obviously with parts of London closed off for the parade and increased security. Made it there just in time to run up on stage and do my thing.
My thing did well. After I was so sweaty and there were no towels but we made our way back to our hotel room - I had a shower adn then joined the whole band and crew for a lovely lunch before going up and having a nap.
An hour later it was time to get ready for my final show at Soho Revue Bar.
What can I say? It was one of the best there. Opened with 'Bombs Up in my Face' and the audience for up for it. Went into 'Casey' (so love doing that live!) and then ran the regular set list but with Insatiable acoustic for the first time in London.
Was mad hot and sweaty in there but I had a blast and the room was full of warm and enthusiastic smiling faces who made me want to stay all night.
Aftterwards we went back to the hotel and got to catch up and say goodbye to everyone for the time being. I'm heading off to the country for 4 days to try to recharge and get ready to promote Verge.
I'm not taking my computer or a cell phone. Just a book and some DVD's.
Huge, no, massive thank you to all of you who made Club Delicacy the best (not) tour in my life. Can't wait to see what the big tour has in store!
Love and stuff

Myspace Blog From Darren - plans trains and..

planes trains and..

Yes Pride London is happening.
And my final Soho Revue bar show.
Unless something else dramatic happens in the next 12 hours I'm about to go to sleep so I can wake up and rock it for y'all on Saturday. I'll be there.
Now - here is my travel story.
It is beyond dull. And frustrating. Excurciatingly so.
Major storms in NY forced our plane that was due to leave Wed night at 6.45pm to remain on the tarmac (with us on it) UNTIL 4. AM.
No movies. No snacks. No real info. Just 8 hours stuck inside a metal tube with hundreds of other people in a thunderstorm waiting to take off.
Only we missed our slot in the end as the pilot had gone over the legally allowed number of hours. So we went back to the gate. 8 hours later.
At 4 am we were all taken off the plane and left in the airport where we were told there were 'no hotel rooms available' - and told our flight would be rescheduled in 14 hours!
Yep.. 4 am we are plane-less and are told to check in again at 6pm. I felt bad for the young families and older passengers who were so tired.
Everyone had to scramble and take care of themselves and it was utter chaos.
None of the food vendors were open .. all the little babies were in full scream mode (don't blame 'em!) and everyone was sleep deprived.
We managed to find the only 2 rooms at an airport hotel and slept for a few hours and then came back to try it again on Thursday night.
To our groundhog day disbelief the events played out almost the same (sat on the tarmac for 3 hours!) before eventually taking off.
My 6 hour flight from NY to London took 2 days and I'm obviously extremely tired and desperately looking for some organic goji berries and an intravevnous shots of coffee (fair trade Ethiopian no less!) to keep me awake tomorrow for my two gigs!!
I kid about the berries and the I.V but a cold shower and some jazzercize routine may be be necessary in order to wake me up tomorrow.
I kid about the jazzercise. But not about the outfit. It is yellow and features a fluffy headband.
Right. There's the delerious button. Arrr jet lag me old friend! xxD

Myspace Blog from Darren - Gonna miss you America

Gonna miss you America

Hey interweb.
Finished the U.S tour pretty triumphantly I'd say tonight in NYC.
I'm completley wrecked but let me give you the highlights.
*We began with Casey - which set a new tone for the opening of the show. I love the song and it was nice to give the repeat offenders some new music tonight.
*I was having so much fun during Insatiable that I forgot the words during the bridge and then decided to play with it by inviting people up on stage to sing the bit I forgot.
*The first person I asked up didn't know the words! Bless. Next! *The second person swore they could sing but when pulled up on stage chickened out. Now I'm fine with stage fright but this person then refused to leave the stage! Very bizarre!
*The third and lucky dip was a boy called Soda and HE rocked the STAGE. Thanks Soda!
*I am very sad to say bye bye to the U.S because we had such a wonderful time here.
I want to thank my incredible band and crew... and everyone who helped put these shows together. And obviously thanks to all of you who turned up and made us feel so welcome.
I'm going home to London tomorrow to headline Gay Pride and then do one final show on Saturday night.
It's been an incredible ride!
And it's only just beginning.
xxD

Sold out Roxy Show in L.A ROCKED me!
Current mood: accomplished
After 7 years of being away from U.S audiences I felt pretty lucky tonight to have such a warm reception at the famous Roxy venue in L.A. At first, the chanting of my name and the screaming I honestly thought must have been for something else.
I did not expect such a vibe and it fueled a show that the band and crew were calling the best on the tour.
I got to see people I hadn't seen in years - Larry Tolin and Rebecca Mostow (my SG managers) Billie Myers (the incredible singer who came on tour with u.s in 2000) and of course the children of a lot of people who were babies when I first hit the scene and were now gorgeous adults.
I recognized a lot of MySpace peeps including Wolverine (you know who you are) and the gorgeous Jamie. It really felt great to hear people singing back the words to obscure songs like 'I like the way' and instantly recognizing the new tunes.
Such a buzz and I can't thank you enough.
Right - I'm off to New York city bright and early in the morning so thought I'd get a quick blog in before I head off to my day off in gotham.
Sending love and vibes right back at you..xD

Press play
Current mood: hungry
So the hotel that booted me out offered to put us up for free now.. Nice gesture.. but I'm waay sick of travelling and moving so it is here at the uber cool hotel in the heart of Hollywood I remain. But thanks..
I had the most incredibly busy but inspiring day.
I did an interview with Mo and Shana on a radio show in L.A called Women Aloud.
The ladies were incredibly warm and funny and Mo Gaffney in particular is someone who's comedy I've been a fan of for years. Lovey to meet her and she is funny!
http://www.greenstonemedia.com/womenaloud.php
Then I did a few more interviews for West One and AP radio and then did a face to face t.v with Extra and then a really indepth interview with Direct T.V.
Very deep stuff but loved the crew so it was a ball.
I got to work also with the amazing make up artist Sharon Gault who works most frequently with photographer David La Chappelle. I've met Sharon ages ago and she has the most incredible energy. Love love love her and she made the day seem so easy!
Right now I'm going to enjoy a few moments ALONE.. been around people for the last forever many days and I finally have a night free.
I had a day off in San Francisco but I couldn't leave my hotel room until 4pm because I was dealing with the final proof reading of the album artwork and liaising with the video directors on 'Verge...' I was telling anyone who listened that it is so weird being an 'adult' now and not allowed to go out and play!!
Well at least I have tonight.
Very much looking forward to the Roxy tomorrow and catching up with a host of my old team from years ago including Larry Tolin and Rebecca Mostow.
Can't wait.
Big love

You just gotta laugh

Current mood: annoyed
It's almost 4 am.
I'm finally in a hotel room in L.A after arriving at Le Parc Suites to be told they had given our rooms away! Our plane delayed for 3 hours leaving SF - and we didn't arrive to L.A until 1.30am. When we got to the hotel they said 'we only have one room'
'What do you mean you only have one room? There's three of us!
'Sorry but some people decided to stay longer and haven't checked out.'
We had secured the rooms wiht a credit card.
This is standard practice for a hotel so that if you don't give enough notice to cancel they can charge you anyway.
WHERE WAS OUR GURANTEE? What kind of hotel gives rooms away that are essentially prepaid for?
It was bizarre. Standing in the lobby of a hotel at half one in the morning being told you didn't have a place to stay.
As we walked out this fetching young band checked in. Tracy turner was hilarious aboiut it... "No! I'm sorry but there's no room in the hotel. You can't check in they've given our rooms away"
I had to put my hand very gently on Tracey's shoulders and say 'It's O.K Trace, it's the white stripes...'
Sure enough Jack and his merry men of Tim Burtonesque band walked purposefully into the hotel. Confident they'd get a bed for the night. And much to our astonishment - THEY DID!! Probably ours!
We had to drive around literally for over an hour looking for some hotel that would take us.. and ended up in one I describe as Rock Central - the party hotel in the heart of Hollywood ( A place I never stay). The smell of weed and cigarrette smoke down the hallways is enough to inhale a felony I'm sure.
It is a nice room though.
Just very expensive.
Oh. And we can't stay more than 2 nights.
Prince is coming on Friday.
Way to go on the cool factor Mr Hayes lol!
I don't mind being bumped for Prince.
But White Stripes?
Not to much!
hehe

New myspace blog from Darren....San Fran Frisky
San Fran Frisky
Current mood: grateful
You know I'm super busy when I'm not blogging a lot! Right now it's almost 3 am and I just got back from a club called 'The Stud Bar' and their infamous night called 'Tranny Shack!'.
I took the whole band and crew to this institution of San Francisco night life. Yep there were plenty o men in dresses and it was a real hoot seeing the most alpha straight males like Gus, our tour manager - looking so 100% completely comfortable with himself in such bizarre surroundings.
It meant a lot to me that the boys all came and hung out somewhere like this - showed they are indeed real men and secure in themselves! I have to say, right here and right now, that I have the coolest band and crew in, well band and crew history.
Everyone has been working so hard and so passionately to bring these shows to U.S audiences and it's been such an amazing bonding experience just being thrown into these tiny sweaty venues.
Like tonight at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco.
It was a really emotional show for me, because I lived there for 7 of the best years of my life.
They were tough times emotionally but the city really smothered me with love and understanding.
It was nice to go back tonight - a happier man - and see a room jam packed full of people who live in a city I consider to be my second home.
I always say that I love Richard 20 percent more than San Francisco. That's saying something! Because I love Richard an inconceivable amount.. but San Fran is running at second, closely followed by Star Wars.
Chicago, it must be said - is officially fucking awesome.
Loved Millennium park - it's a breathing work of art.
And the people, the food, the design of city made it all something to behold.
Two great shows there and now just 2 more to do in the U.S.
L.A and our second New York show.
When I get back to England I am taking 4 days completely away in the country with Rich - no cell phone no laptop no work no stress. Nothing.
It's been absolutely incredible but also a lot of work!
I need to recharge my batteries before the real work of promoting the single starts.
O.K .. on that note I'm off!
Sending you oodles of inappropriate affection.
xxD

Darren's "Open letter to Editor of Brisbane's Sunday Mail"
Darren posted this blog tonight in response to an article that was in Brisbane's Sunday mail today. I didn't sent the article in question out earlier because it was rubbish and I didn't want to perpetuate the lies they were saying but if you'd like to read the article, you can read it from their website here:
http://www.news.com.au/sundaymail/story/0,,21916508-952,00.html
And here is Darren's blog....

Open letter to Editor of Brisbane's Sunday Mail

Current mood: disappointed
In response to the article in your news paper that suggests I 'dissed' the town I grew up in I have to say I'm appalled.
The story is completely false and you didn't even get my Father's name right. You just printed a lie.
The opinions you expressed as mine are not even my words.
They have been lifted from press release written by a U.K journalist.
For the record, Peter is my brother. Not my father.
So much for getting basic facts straight.
Considering my love for Brisbane is actually a part of my new record (I name check, with love, the street I grew up in on 'How to Build a Time Machine') the idea that I would say negative things about Brisbane is preposterous.
I adore my home town and I'm proud of my 'poor' upbringing.
It was a struggle as most people's lives are. But one of the biggest themes in my music and in my life is that which does not break us makes us stronger.
There's a whole history of my love affair with Brisbane that you've chosen not to report because the truth is kind of boring.
It happens to be mine and my English partner Richard's favourite Australian city. When he was on tour with me in Australia last year he proclaimed Brisbane his 'top spot' in Australia, much to the horror of my Sydney and Melbourne friends. After performing at the Sydney Opera House we stayed at Brisbane's Stamford Plaza for a week - If you bothered to ask any of the staff there, I've been calling that hotel my second home for the past 7 years.
I return home more times a year than you would know because I do not publicize it. l don't live my life as a celebrity and I value my time in Brisbane with my family in a private and treasured way.
As for my views on gay marriage, there is nothing 'veiled' about my remarks on Civil Partnerships and John Howard's refusal to make it a reality for gay men and women in Australia.
I consider the recognition of Civil Partnerships to be a basic civil right and it's about time this archaic law was changed. Gay Australians deserve this.
There. Words from my mouth. Feel free to quote them.
To my actual Australian and Brisbane audience who have stood by me and supported me for the past 10 years - I'm sorry you had to think for even one second that this tabloid fodder was in any way an indication of who I am.
I'm a Brisbane boy and proud of it. And I'm completely offended at the accusatory nature of this article.
I defended myself as a child against small minded bullies and I'll do the same thing as an adult against media ones.
Brisbane Rules : Bullshit doesn't.
Sincerely
Darren Hayes

Toronto Rocked My Ass!
Current mood: ecstatic
Up there with the best gigs ever..
This year just seems to keep getter better and better.
I'm feeling great by the way.. definitely on the mend from the flu (for those who were asking) and voice was kicking tonight..
It started when we landed in Toronto.. the Canadians were so friendly and I knew that we were going to have a magical time here.
Night before had a gorgeous meal with our new drummer Peter and Tracey and Shave at the Italian over the road from the Delta hotel.
It was so nice to sit outside and breathe warm night air and relax.
Had a warm and friendly couple of interviews for t.v and press this afternoon and then made my way to soundcheck.
Rob from Temposhark gave me a copy of their brand spankin' new album 'The invisible line' and the artwork is stunning. I love it.
Did Casey at soundcheck and then got ready for the gig.
We had the most enthusiastic crowd I've seen in a while!
I loved the Mod club and everyone was a dream to work with.
We played our asses off and I owned the stage tonight.
Loved every second of it and thank you Toronto for making me feel like it hasn't been so long between visits!
Off to Chicago tomorrow for the first of 2 shows.
This tour is shaping up to be a gem.
p.s saw 15 seconds of the video for 'On the verge of Something Wonderful' today and it blew my mind. I don't wanna call it.. but o.k I will. Best. Video. Ever!

Daily Star Review of Darren's Soho Revue Bar Performance
Thanks to Laura for sharing this news. This review of Darren's exclusive press gig at the Soho Revue Bar in London was in the June 14 issue of the Daily Star (UK).

Darren Hayes, Soho Revenue Bar, London.
Sounds like the ex Savage Garden man has been listening to Kate Bush and Prince in his three years away. Gone is the cheesy pop-rock and in its place are synths, spacey squelches and lyrics that are pure melodrama. SITL, with its references to mystical fortresses, is the musical equivalent of one of those fantasy posters you get down the market. If a unicorn had popped up on stage with Darren at this point it wouldn't have looked out of place. How to build a time machine is a tear-jerker-meets-Erasure-esque pop stomper, while funky Me Myself And (i) would make Prince himself shake his tiny purple tush. Give Daz a chance and you might be surprised.

Back, ye devil! Back I say!
Current mood: drained
Just decompressing from the gig tonight at The Canal Room, NYC.
Short story was it was a gorgeous and emotionally generous audience and a charged and vibey show. The long story begins a day or so ago in London..
Barely had time to scatch myself after the London gig and I was on my way to Heathrow to make the flight to New York.
I definitley had a melancholic moment saying goodbye to my little family - everything feels a bit like a blur at the moment - trying to remember to smell the roses and enjoy the present. You know those kind of hugs you give when you want to store it up for later use? I managed one of those before running for the car waiting to take me to the airport.
I don't want to keep going on and on about being ill, but I'm still not 100% (to be honest I'm about 50%) and although the weird fever thing has moved on - the left over effects haven't. Still lose my breath, still have moments of feeling really weak. I felt so shattered when I arrived in Manhattan and spent the evening before just stocking up on fresh healthy food and vitamins. Did the whole steam inhalation thing and thank God for Whole Foods Supermarket.
I managed to get a fairly decent sleep and headed down to the venue for soundcheck and some press. It was a bit stressful because I had a massive sinus headache so wasn't feeling great..and as I was leaving I saw this old man get hit on his motorcycle. He got knocked off and he was really scared! Me and a group of people ran to help him but no one wanted to move him in case he had hurt his spine. The poor thing was virtually choking from the strap on his helmet. I could see his face was turning blue and the gaggle of 'helpers' around were yellling out 'Don't move him!!' and I was yelling back 'He can't breathe!'. In the end someone helped him with his helmet and I held his hand and about ten minutes later.. he just got up! Lol. He was fine. Just shocked.
Anyway, kind of threw me and I headed uptown to my hotel with a then throbbing headache and feel really dehydrated. Had to sit in the shower for a half hour just to get my voice to sound O.K (bloody flu!!) and then put on my pimp white suit and headed downtown to the Canal Room.
It was sweaty, feverish (so was I!) and urgent. The voice worked. It was hard, but it came through when I needed it. Loved the audience and the Canal Room was a really cool space. I had to work REAL hard on stage to breathe properly and find the energy needed. But the crowd ROCKED! It kind of hit me half way through the show that I really am not back on my feet physically yet.. but somehow that INCREDIBLE audience carried me and I was touched and moved by the kindness and love in the room.
Thank you so much New York, yet again, for welcoming me and my band with such sincerity. Everyone has been so kind. The Blue Room filmed the show to include a few songs to go with the interview that did earlier. Arjan from Arjanwrites.com came (and was adorable in person... love him and love his column). Saw Elizabeth from Time Out (LOVe her!) and of course the lovely folks from Entertainment Weekly.
After the show I got to meet a lot of the above as well as my friend Jason who bought his friend Maripol (amazing iconic stylist, designer, photographer, artist.. google her!) and I have to say it was around that time that I started to feel feverish again and like I just may have pushed myself a little too much!
It was all good though because my friend Myrna Suarez (amazing photographer) came back to my hotel room and we had a slumber party with room service and bad t.v. We joked that how UN rock'n'roll my life is.. thinking that most people would assume I'd be out at some fab club instead of rockin' my boxers in front of room service at midnight. She spoiled me, gave me a neck rub and talked to me about anything and everything not Darren Hayes Inc.
It was lovely to hang out quietly and effortlessly with my dear friend and now I'm getting ready for bed and A WHOLE DAY OFF!!!
Did you hear me?
A WHOLE DAY.
I am going to sleep it away and try to keep pushing the last remnants of this 'thing' back into the place that colds and flus go when they're through torturing us. (Don't think that I"m unaware of how overly dramatic and complaining I have been about this.. but in my defence.. A. I'm a man, and B. I'm a singer. and C. It sucks. I'm so glad I've got a few days before the next gig. Hopefully I'll be back to normal by Toronoto! And thank you God, the universe and everything for making sure I can still sing even though on the inside it seems like I shouldn't be able to! I think it's all your good vibes. Ie YOU reading this. ;)
Right..
I'm off to get some shut eye.
Sending you love..

Billboard Chuck Taylor's review of "Step Into The Light"
Click here to read the review from Billboard's website
Step Into the Light
DARREN HAYES
Producer(s): Darren Hayes, Justin Shave
Genre: DANCE
Label: Powdered Sugar

Savage Garden main man Darren Hayes' new solo album, "This Delicate Thing We've Made," was previewed in the United States at a series of sold-out live showcases where response was nothing less than manic. While the double album is as diverse as the seasons, first single "Step Into the Light" is a joyous dancefloor steamer, complete with 11 diverse mixes offering radio, club and dub rubs. Pezza perhaps prompts the ultimate full-body flop sweat, hurling Hayes' falsetto, mungo chorus and thwacking percussion above the clouds. Blanco appreciably adds sweeping strings, while Moran delivers a transcendent beat-coral best-suited to airwaves. Hayes' project joyously transcends all genres - and an AC release with the enduring moxie of "Truly Madly Deeply" is imminent - but as a reminder of Hayes' versatile melodic bootprint, "Light" is a hell of a celebratory beacon. - Chuck Taylor

Your Vibes Worked
Current mood: relieved

Amazing gig.
Amazing.
Didn't know if I would have to cancel as I'd felt so ill yesterday but woke up today feeling strong and by the time I took the stage something just washed over me and I knew it was going to be a special performance.
Poor Boyd, my manager, is on day 2 of the 'bug'.. he looked like he was going to pass out! I told him he'd have a horrible night tonight and by tomorrow he too might have broken the back of it.
I've never really had a virus come on so quick or strong before this but I'm glad it's going!
The crowd were mad up for it.
We performed 'Casey' for the first time ever.
I sang 'I dont know you anymore' for the 2nd time in 7 years.
I wore my pimp white suit.
I sang my heart out.
Someone stole my cup off stage again (they stole it off stage the night before too! and it was my favorite mug from home! ggrrrrr! hehe).. Only tonight, as my body was oozing with infectious disease I did comment that I hope the person who stole my cup got the flu hehe.
It was a magical night and I want to thank you all for your well wishes and good vibes.
Off to the U.S tomorrow and New York show the next day.
Lookin' forward to it.
Big love
and see you soon.

Darren's Myspace Blog - Star Wars Sheets

Star Wars Sheets
Current mood: exhausted

Hello interweb..
So I'm sitting here under my Star Wars quilt watcing a t.v show called 'Braniac' and about to head upstairs to start getting my body ready for the gig tonight.
We had our media showcase yesterday and what many of you don't know is that I was sick as a dog! All the plane travelling and long hours obviously don't help the immune system but I came home from L.A a little under the weather and by thursday I had a nasty 'thing'. You know the drill : sore muscles all over, fever sweats, sore throat etc etc. Dull. But bloody annoying for a singer.
Thursday night I went to bed and had no idea when I woke up if I'd be able to sing.
I'd been to the doctor's during the day and he'd muttered something about a sinus infection and to be honest I had so much to do I just got on with it.
After the gig I literally sat in the stairwell of the venue and could have fallen asleep. I met someone lovely from the press who must have thought I was a crack addict as I couldn't stop sweating! And then came home and didn't even get my shoes off before falling into a deep sleep still in my stage clothes. I don't think I've ever felt so sucker punched by a virus before. Just zapped me of all energy.
Long story short I had one of those nights where fever makes you sweat every piece of moisture from everything you ever drank out of your body and woke up this morning feeling like I'd broken the monster's back. Not over it but definitley not in the thick of it anymore.
It was sweet because I got spoiled a lot (hence someone making up a bed on the sofa with my favorite star wars bedding hehe). I'm going to go now and run a hot shower and breath in hot steam for half an hour. It tends to be the one thing that really helps a singer's voice.
Anyway writing this because I coud use your posiive vibes! Got a busy month ahead so can't let this little gremlin take me down!
Thanks to everyone for their support yesterday and glad you didn't notice I was feeling like something you would scrape off the bottom of your shoe!
Love you..
xD

Darren's Myspace Blog - Smiley Happy People

Thursday, June 07, 2007
Smiley Happy People
I'm about to go to bed but thought I'd write something chipper since I feel it. I had a really productive and busy day today. We (Boyd and Cathy and I) met with our entire team here in London. It consisted of our distribution label (Absolute) and the radio and T.V promotions team as well as the digital guys and the packaging peeps. We had the whole private dining room of our local restaurant filled with talk of 'This Delicate Thing We've Made'.
It was really exciting to meet all these people I had asked to come work with me and see their excitement and enthusiasm first hand. I am absolutely grateful for my years of being at a major label - but there is something so satisfying knowing that all of the people in the room had actually signed up to work with me because of the music I am making today.
We spoke about everything from the fabric and materials I want on the special packaging to the choice of singles. From tours to remixes. Radio to T.V. A lot of work and daunting if you look at it from up close but not so scary from space.
I have done a fair bit of great press recently. I did an incredible interview for the Sunday Times in London and this great article just came out in Time Out New York (I've included it HERE.
I went out for a walk after the meeting in Notting Hill and got some fresh air. And came face to face with a street poster I thought you might like. So I got Rich to take my picture for you.

I put in another picture of me when I was in New York last..
In my favourite new trenchcoat.

Anway.. I'm off to bed now. Got a radio interview tomorrow and then band rehearsals so I'm going to get some shut eye.
Love you as always

Darren's Myspace Blog - The Surreal Life

Tuesday, June 5, 2007
The Surreal Life
Went to a celebrity 'do' tonight in London.
Nice enough of them to have me and all that - but I couldn't help but feel strangely disconnected from it all.
I've never been a celebrity anyway - so it's no suprise that I'm not the most experienced at these kinds of things - but I sat and watched the whole thing unfold before my eyes with a bit of a wry smile I guess.
Paparazzi desperate to get pictures of Victoria Beckham.
Enrique Eglesius getting screamed at by grown women.
Random thoughts that went through my head...
As the man at the table next to me churned through cigarettes like oxygen I thought Could you smoke MORE please? I haven't got enough ashtray smell on my clothes or asthma in my lungs.
Free champagne.
Awards for Angelina Jolie.
Victoria looks thinner in real life.
Ferne cotton has a cute boyfriend.
Victoria Newton the famous gossip columnist from London's Sun was strangely stunning and spectacular looking in red, red, red.
And though I was dressed up in my best designer outfit all I wanted to do was curl up in bed.
Nice of them to have me and all that.
Reminded me of a John Lennon Song.
"I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round.
I really love to watch them roll.
No longer riding on the merry go round.
I just had to let it go."
Indeed.

The Music Video
Category: Music
I'm back in London from L.A having just flown there and back within 4 days to shoot the video for 'On The Verge of Something Wonderful'. It was quite the feat I must say, flying there and back and working so hard with so much at stake.
I said to the directors 'I woke up this morning and thought.. should I pay cash for a house or make this video? And I chose VIDEO!!'. All jokes aside, being indie means I pay for it. All. And that's a scary thought but also a liberating one.
Rather than try to explain to you what the visual idea was, I've included a very early draft of what we eventually settled on. This was written by Adam and Justin at The Saline Treatment and was the reason I chose them.
The song 'On The Verge....' Is loosely about standing at the precipice of an adventure.
In mind it was the jumping off point for me delving into the depths below emotionally for this album. And in some ways it's like the opening theme song for me as the time traveler in the role of album narrator. I go back to go forward.
So the video needed to be a flurry of all the influence and the energy that the album conjures up. Lots of green screen and reacting to things that will be put in in post later. They'll be animating for some time I imagine so there's lots for them to do but I'm very excited to see the end results.
____________________________________
First Video Treatment Idea from The Saline Project for Darren Hayes 'On The Verge Of Something Wonderful'
With nothing but a black void as our canvas, this video opens with a series of heavy references to 1980's era experimental music videos. Talking Heads. Devo. Berlin.
All of the imagery feels somehow tweaked and manipulated. The visuals might have a 80's sensibility, but the presentation is unmistakably 2007.
Darren is very much the straight man in this fantastic world. In one set up, shades of Max Headroom. In another, the time traveler with his uniform of bright orange shoes and tie blowing in the wind as he travels through a fantastical world. Totally in control of this incredible chaos, occasionally letting us in on the fact that he understands how wonderfully abstract all this is, providing a sort of stylistic barometer to the kind of imagery that continually splashes across the screen.
Anything is possible in this world - dream sequences, fantastic personal visions, and more straight-forward performance sequences woven into a beautiful and strange tapestry.
Cities rise, cars made from cardboard appear as Darren and company walk the streets of a herky jerky city. Beams of neon light dance in the black sky to the rhythm of the synthesizer. An apartment assembles itself around us and we find Darren typing at a typewriter. A spool of paper wraps itself around him but he continues to type. The camera follows the paper which becomes a road. Darren rides a cardboard bicycle down the typing paper road. He dodges cars as traffic gets more intense. Suddenly the cars smash into each other and then unfold into waves. Darren's bicycle becomes a boat and oars fall from the sky as the camera pulls back to see him in a makeshift ocean. The camera pulls back farther and we see the earth spinning. Enlarged cities and miniature planes float around the globe and the camera rotates to reveal the earth as a hat on Darren's head. He throws the hat aside as desks unfold around him and coworkers and supervisors populate and endless office space. Darren tries to sort an ever growing heap of papers and the camera pulls back to reveal...
Hastily-made assemblage sets and props, heaped together from chunks of cardboard, toys, kids costumes and vintage instruments. Helping us create a world that is a perfect melding of retro and futurism.
The endless unfolding will continue, transforming and changing as Darren sometimes sings to camera, sometimes ignores us. Often playing with the concepts in the track, sometimes illustrating them pretty accurately- but never without a twist. We'd love to work with Darren in putting this sequence of vignettes together, pulling as much from his life, dreams, and lyrics as possible.
Like some of the great 1980's videos, Michael Gondry films, and Bjork promos, we work heavy visual elements into abstract but readable moments. With Darren as our host and guide, we enter this world immediately, with no explanation, no bookends, nothing - this is the creative statement being made and any sort of excuse or twist would water down what is strong, pure and understandable to the modern viewer.

Darren Hayes, who is working feverishly on his new album, began work on a new music video in LA this week and in addition to busting out a few really cute facial expressions he busted up a very special guest star for his video.
How sweet of the boy to let the crazy Ms. Janice Dickinson appear in his music video. Bless his heart. I can't wait to see the final result.

Supermodel! Work! Do your thing!
Sitting in the air port lounge on my way home to London. This will be a quick one but wanted to let you know the video shoot went great. Our iconic uberguest was The Miss Janice Dickinson and she did not disappoint. It was literally a tiny cameo but it's already garnered quite a bit of attention that we both think is quite funny!
Having her appear in the video was not planned at all. I had met her through a friend briefly the day before the video shoot. I was struck actually by how much grace and star quality she carried with her up close and I jokingly said she could play the part of the evil sexy shopaholic in the video. And to our shock she said yes! The idea that the 80's were an era of success made it the perfect avenue for Miss Thing to strut her stuff loaded down by way too many shopping bags. She played a tiny but memorable part and was whisked in and our in a flurry of fun.
To me, when I think of the era that Janice really took her place as a supermodel it was all about glamour and animated joy. She brought those qualities and more on the set and we were all raving about how kind and friendly she was on set - nothing at all like the character she tends to play out on t.v. She was the consummate professional and looked, smelled and performed stunningly.
I'll give you more of an update on the video and some photos when I land!
xD

GenerationQ article - Darren Hayes makes return to the charts

Darren Hayes makes return to the charts
Darren Hayes has broken into the Top 10 on the ARIA Club Chart with Step Into The Light.
by Chris Pycroft - Associate Producer AU on 2007-05-28

For the last nine weeks, Into The Light has been gradually climbing the club charts under the artist name of Shave & Sugar. But now, as momentum continues to grow for Darren Hayes' new album This Delicate Thing We've Made, a taste of what can be expected from the upcoming double disc release has officially been revealed.
The song, which now has the official title of Step Into The Light (Shave & Sugar Mix), has moved for the first time into the ARIA Club Chart Top 10 at position number nine.
It signals the official return to the charts for Hayes, whose last chart appearance was at the end of 2005 with the release of the single So Beautiful.
The original name of Shave & Sugar for its release to clubs comprised of the surname of Justin Shave; a co-producer and writer for the upcoming album, and also an excerpt from the name of Hayes' independent record label Powered Sugar.
Step Into The Light has since been remixed by up to twelve different DJs including [Love] Tattoo, and was featured in the 2007 Mardi Gras.
This Delicate Thing We've Made will be released on 20 August.
In the coming weeks, GenerationQ will be previewing This Delicate Thing We've Made. If you liked Darren's music before, then just wait until you hear him now...

Sunday Telegraph Article
There was a nice article about Darren in today's Sunday Telegraph (Australia). Thanks to Rosie for scanning it. (click on the image below to see a larger version of the scan)

And I've typed up the text for those of you that need to use a translator to read it. Here it is...
New-look Hayes on song
With a stylish short haircut, a gym-toned bod and a new wardrobe, Darren Hayes is putting himself back on the radar.
Having split from his major record label, Sony BMG, the former Savage Garden front man has been busily working towards the independent release of his new solo album, This Delicate Thin We've Made, in August.
The first single, On The Verge of Something Wonderful, will be released on June 25, and Hayes will film a video clip for the track in Los Angeles next week.
"This Delicate Thing is my most important record, because it's the first one where I've been fully aware of what I was doing, and why," Hayes, 35, says.
"I went back and literally looked at my whole life -- the joy, the sadness, the death of friends, the birth of children, the rise and the fall of a career."
Fan's may have unknowingly already heard his new material, as club DJs around the world have been playing one of the tracks, Step Into The Light.
The track peaked on the local dance charts at No. 12 and was distributed with Shave and Sugar credited as the artist.
Justin Shave is the name of Hayes' producer, and Hayes' company is called Powdered Sugar Productions.
The two-CD album will feature 25 songs, some of which are about Hayes' husband, Richard Cullen, whom he married in a civil service in London last June.
"I wanted to write an album about relationships and the idea of time travel as therapy," says the London-based Hayes, who is likely to visit Australia in the new few months.

Darren's myspace blog - The 80's Get Me Hard
Darren posted a new blog on his myspace today and it includes a really cute picture of him and Wally sleeping on the couch. So adorable!
http://www.myspace.com/darrenhayes
Tuesday, May 22, 2007
The 80's Get Me Hard
I'm watching a documentary on Scott Walker, the innovative American experimental and esoteric music maker. I don't know if this speaks of my mood today or my new direction in my musical life – but I feel a sense of solidarity with him. On that note, Willie Williams and I met up today to discuss the tour again – he having just come back from New York where he was working with that other musical outcast Laurie Anderson.
It was an inspiring meeting where he produced models and pictures to demonstrate exactly how he'll help present 'This Delicate Thing' live. It's amazing with computer aided design, you don't often need to make 'real' things. But it really helped seeing a 3D model of the stage and how it might all unfold with the music. I could be making another huge mistake by financing this show! But I live for my art and to not do this show I think is something I'd regret more than a few extra dollars in my pocket.
It's been a strange week this one. Lots of topsy turvy energy going down (anyone else feel it?) and been feeling more tired than usual. Took to having a nap on the couch on the weekend a couple times which I rarely do (Rich took a snap of Wally and I in a deep coma – could that dog be any cuter?). We were supposed to go see a movie – bought tickets and all – but ended up just staying in.
Today after our meeting we knocked about in the West End for a bit – I bought another Star Wars book I don't need and got some food from the organic store for dinner.
We had the most amazing organic food store around the corner from us called Fresh and Wild. But it got bought by 'Whole Foods' the U.S company and got closed down to allow for their huge super store opening up in Kensington. Great for Kensington but bad for us! We really loved walking there and getting awesome healthy food for dinner fresh each night. Now there's a burger place to tempt us. What to do? That's why whenever I'm near one I go crazy storing up food like an animal preparing for winter. How sad and boring that in my mid 30's I should be confessing to eating a carrot and chick pea salad instead of getting trashed at the pub?
Hehe.
Tomorrow I'm getting my hair cut again (short haircuts need cutting every few weeks have ya noticed?) and then Thursday we are in the studio doing the surround sound mix for the DVD version of the record due next year. Friday is the album photo shoot and Monday I leave for L.A for the video shoot. Super busy days huh!
Here's my ten second review on all things pop culture this week.
Paris Hilton going to jail : throw away the key.
The new Maroon 5 album : are they Savage Garden for the 2000's?
Madonna's Pharrel song : Eh.
Pharrell's ice cream Reebok trainers : Amazing.
80's Things I've rediscovered this month Alison Moyet. The first concert I ever saw and still one of my favourite singers. Love Resurrection rocks ass!
Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield. This is one of the best pop songs ever written and I'll defend it via hate mail. I don't mind saying that Brandon Flowers may have studied this song as song camp. It's sugar rush in 3 minutes.
'Swept Away' by Diana Ross. Written by Darryl Hall and someone or other. I think if Britney Spears were to launch a comeback this song would do it. In fact, could Britney please not do this song and instead could Madonna Cover it and could Calvin Harris please produce. The Family – the 'secret' Prince album that may or may not be Prince. Does anyone know?
Maniac by Michael Sembello. Is it wrong I like this song?
I started this blog tired and a bit of 80's just got me all 'up'. Thank you 80's.
Well, once again, wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who writes me on here. I do read all the notes. Obviously it's getting harder and harder to reply to a lot but I try. I try!
Sending big love..

Video Killed the Radio Star
Current mood: artistic
So by now most of you reading this will have seen the second animated video piece I have commissioned to showcase music from 'This Delicate Thing We've Made'.
'Step Into The Light' was painstakingly put together by Damian Hale of onedotzero.
Damien has done some pretty amazing things actually. I first met him through his involvement with Willie Williams and their work together with Richard Cullen on the George Michael tour. They had done a lot of the video pieces that appeared on the mammoth video stage that George is touring at the moment. I loved Damien's work and I asked him to commission 2 pieces. 'Step' was the first. 'Casey' is the other.
Richard Cullen is working on 10 other songs (you've seen his first 'Who Would Have Thought?') and there's another animation house from Brooklyn, New York who I've asked to make an animated short for 'How To Build a Time Machine'.
Although some of the pieces will appear online, the entire 13 will be available some time early next year as a surround sound 5.1 single disc version of the album.
I hope it's clear that these pieces are animations.
A few lost souls have written and expressed concern that I'm 'not in my videos'.
I can assure you, I'll be in the music video for the first single 'On The Verge of Something Wonderful'.
I'm about to head off to L.A in the next couple of weeks to begin filming a big fat pop video for it. The animated shorts are not intended to be traditional music videos.
They are art pieces and they are intended to be the graphic and visual counterparts to 'This Delicate Thing We've Made'.
I hope you are enjoying the journey to August 20 as much as I am!

Happy Birthday
Current mood: thankful

It's my birthday today and I presume I'm going to be spending it all day with the people I love. I say presume because I'm writing this before I go to bed, but plans are in motion for a lovely day.
I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to all of you and the universe I guess, for the beauty in my life.
In the entertainment industry there is a fear of getting older. But in the real world, getting older is a blessing. Just ask anyone who lost someone too soon – wrinkles are a trophy and a gift from God. To be alive today, experiencing all of this for the 35 years that I have – is the best gift I could get.
There were many years where I didn't see my life as a blessing. There were dark times (and I'm sure there will be again). But through it all, I've always had my songs and my music – and they in turn were like a beacon of hope for me. Sending out a message, a random blinking light if you will, saying 'I'm still here! I'm waiting for you!'.
'You' was Richard. It was the 'me' I forgot and in some ways it was all of you.
Thank you for sticking by me and having faith in me and allowing me the opportunity to keep doing the thing that ignites my soul.
For your wishes and your gracious time and attention I say 'Thank You'.
Love Darren

It blocked our car in and made me feel like the government were secretly stalking me. I don't suppose a whole gang of you pooled your money together to hire one of those spy trucks did you? You know the kind with a massive satellite dish on top? To listen to the album?
>See that's what I'm doing right now. I'm sitting in a mastering suite with the icon that is Tim Young. He has mastered pretty much everything. What is mastering you ask? Ergh. I'm so bad at explaining this stuff. The short story is written on the interweb here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastering (hehe)
Basically it's a lot more than just preparing the final production master. It involves the sequencing of the songs, choosing the milliseconds between tracks, adjusting master e.q's and blanances and making the whole record 'sit' together sonically. I'm not really into very LOUD records as you know – and the beauty and tragedy of modern mastering is that everything is EXTREMELY LOUD. This is o.k at radio but as an album I want this one to have more dynamics and more subtleties. So that's what Tim's delicate balance will be.
On another note – I'm knee deep in fun stuff. I'm overseeing the re- designing of the website, continuously developing the front cover art, and today had a meeting with Willie Williams www.willieworld.com about our forthcoming extravaganza planned for October. Can't tell you any more than that other than the fact that it will be a LOT easier to get tickets. Lol..
In other news I'm feeling more relaxed now the record is done. Like tonight I'm staying in because I'm obsessed with America's Next Top Model. Monday nights at our place are SO domestic. It's hilarious. What else? I'm very excited to be going home to Australia. And in preparation for all this promo I've had to get some new clothes. I've given a lot of my old stuf to charity and went out to buy a crap load more. Going through my wardrobe and throwing things out was a bit like being on 'What Not To Wear'. Except I had to buy the replacement clothes myself.
Right. I just had my phone ring in the middle of a mastering session. Not cool. Inside here it's like the cone of silence*. There are strict rules about noise. There is a door that looks like it's made of bullet proof glass and a handle that you need to be a 200 pound weight lifter to open. Needless to say I'm glad I don't have my ring tone set to 'R2D2' anymore.
Goodnight interweb.
Love me.
*Apart from the greatest album in the world blasting away.

U.S. Club Dates Looming
New Blog from Darren's myspace....

U.S club dates looming

Don't you just hate web based mail?
Or blogs?
Or anything where you can be timed out?
Or your draft doesn't get saved?

I just spent an hour writing a really informative and funny blog.
And then I had the urge to check out David Beckhams new haircut on pinkisthenewblog.com and forgot to save my blog..and you guessed it. Erased.

And David's hair was dissapointing too.
So not worth it.
I'll know next time interweb.
You are more important that hair styles of the rich and famous.

What I wanted to say was simple really.
I'm coming back to the u.s for some more small club shows soon. We are still working out the dates but it's probably going to be in June at at his stage it's looking like L.A, SF, Chicago, New York and maybe Philly.
As always, stay tuned here for the details but for those u.s fans who keep asking, well the answer is 'yes'.

As for the 'big' tour - we finally confirmed the venue for the London date of the U.K tour that will begin late September and play in London at a very prestigious venue first week of October.
That tour is being designed by the legendary Willie Williams and will continue on to Australia aftewards and hopefully come through the u.s in summer 08.

We're planning lots of amazing things and sorry I've been out of cyberspace for a few days. Had lots of shizzle going on but it's all good.
There's so much to do. We've got another animated video coming next month to MySpace and then I'm soon shooting the actual music video with real live action 'me' in it for the first single 'On The Verge of Something Wonderful'.

Been setting up the plan all 'round the world for the release of the album in August
*yes.. to all who ask.. it WILL be released in the U.S.
And generally been running the label (it's lots of work!! but fun).

Want some boring domestic gossip?
Hmm.
We watched 'Extras' tonight - season 2 - on DVD.
Ricky Gervais kills me. He's so funny.
Strangely sad and quite relatable this new series.
Some of his interactions with man on the street.. well I can relate!

In other news, my dog loves me more each day.
He's so damned cute I want to clone him.

Um. That's it. I'm having tea with Anna Maria La Spina tomorrow to have a chat about her and someone else coming along on tour to sing backing vocals. As with all things not sure if it will happen, but we'd both like it to.
Lots of vocals on this record and the computer is getting tired of spitting my album ones out of its hard drive! Might be time for the humans to take control again.

In the meantime, I love your notes and messages as always.
Well most of them.
The ones that include tips and suggestions are funny but perhaps not in the way intended.
But you get my point. I love the love.
And here's some back at you.

xxD

Electric!

Current mood: jubilant
So that show was electric.
Just got back from the Soho Revue Bar performance and it's probably my favourite one so far.
There was a real buzz in the air from the minute I got on stage.
I don't quite know what it was?
Perhaps it was the knowledge that I'd hidden mix cd's under some of the tables?
Or that I knew I was going to get an extended break from shows come tomorrow so I could really let my hair down on stage?
I don't know.
Most probably it was the audience who were crowded in tight and close and clapping along to the preshow music even before I took the stage.
They gave something extra to us tonight and I just played with them all evening.
We did the most blistering rendition of 'Baby I am Popular' tonight.
Complete with double time hand claps. Major kudos to the audience for keeping up.
Afterwards got to hang out with a lot of my close friends and even some MySpace peeps as well.
Twas fun and exhausting all at the same time.
I'm off to bed now to sleeeeeeep.
Thanks to you all for bringing something extra tonight.
I love that each and every show is different.
And I wouldn't change a thing.
xD
