WOW! I have to admit I hated a lot of Darren Hayes' work. It was too 'wet' sounding for my liking. All balladry and no substance.
Now after being dropped by his major record label, Darren goes it alone with his new solo album This Delicate Thing We've Made, a dazzling collection of soulful pop dance electronica numbers. Many say his last album The Tension and The Spark was his Rudebox album but I disagree. This Delicate Thing We've Made IS his Rudebox album! It's creepy, engaging, elegant, different and classy. It's nothing like you'll hear on the Top 40 charts that's for sure. First single On The Verge Of Something Wonderful is only a preview of the sensational kaleidoscope of sound that Darren's concocted here.
Other triumphs includes the JT style pop-funk of Me, Myself And I, the dirty electro soundscape of Setting Sun and the simplistic elegant uplifting soul of album closer Turning Of Violins. A very surprising yet brilliant new contender for pop album of 2007!
