Darren Hayes Is Back With A Real Mix Of Tunes

Darren Hayes
This Delicate Thing We've Made

In a Nutshell: The third solo album from the former Savage Garden singer. He's already sold over 25 million records during his music career to date, but will the Aussie continue his good run?

What's It Like? The album starts off weirdly with lots of strange beats and spooky sounds, but stick with it because things do improve. It's a mixture of high-energy electro-pop numbers like Fear of Falling Under and Listen Al You People and slower numbers like Who Would Have Thought, Walk Away and the Only One. There are also some flashes of Savage Garden on Casey, Great big Disconnect, and Me Myself and (I).

How Many Good Tracks: Fifteen, out of 25.

Worst Track: Waking The Monster and Bombs Up In My Face. Bizarre lyrics, bizarre tunes, bizarrely bad.

Verdict: A real mish-mash of sounds. It's a bit worthy in parts, some of it's just plain odd and there are way too many tracks - it's a double album and at times seems never-ending. But there are also some really nice songs, and former Savage Garden fans will find plenty to enjoy.
