Dump Claim False Alarm

Cultivated crooner Darren Hayes showed his philosophical side yesterday when asked about false claims he had been dropped by his US record label.

In Australia to promote his Too Close For Comfort tour, the former Savage Garden frontman refers to the accusations as "so untrue that it actually perplexes me".

Last month a story did the rounds claiming Hayes was no longer a priority act at Columbia Records in the US.

"Nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I guess the reality is it's just my turn to be picked on," said Hayes, who said he consulted other victims of untruths including Kylie Minogue.

"I look at myself as someone who's going to endure, whether people want you to retire or not," he said.
