Darren Hayes Drops DVDs
Darren Hayes has endured a rollercoaster year - marrying his partner under the UKs same sex union laws, splitting with his overseas record company, & enjoying a sell out homecoming concert tour. Hayes now prepares for the first of two new DVD releases, titled "To Close For Comfort". The doco promises a look into Hayes' private life & onstage performances around the rime of his split with Savage Garden & his subsequent solo world tour in 2002. The film is interspersed with new interview footage of Hayes reflecting on the period.
Meanwhile his two sold out Sydney Opera House performances from July 2006, dubbed "A Big Night In", will feature on another DVD which is set for a December release. As for future projects, Hayes has been providing ongoing commentary on the recording of this forthcoming double album, at his official site - darrenhayes.com & myspace.com/darrenhayesofficialmusic. Hayes is busy working in London with producers Justin Shave and Robert Conley.
And then there is a DVD review on page 10:

Too Close For Comfort
The life of Darren Hayes has been a rollercoaster for the past decade or so and if you ever wanted to really delve into the psyche of a superstar who has lived through highs and lows then this is the DVD for you. Not often do you get a massive amount of such personal and intimate footage from such a diverse section of a stars life.
This DVD is literally four or five DVD's worth of footage crammed into one doco/concert extravaganza.
Stand out points of the tour is Darren's self confession of being a "Diva" and I just love the "tipping" incident. To top it off, you get Darren's view along the way in hindsight - it's like watching the doco with Darren on your couch!
It's a very unique and worth-while presentation - in fact - it's a great way to know the man child that is Darren Hayes both on and off the stage. Normally muso's documentaries makes you more distant from the performer, but this one really endears you more to Darren and make you appreciate the performer that much more.
Love it.
