Darren Hayes Leaves Sony BMG
by Daniel Zugna
July 12, 2006

Darren Hayes has parted ways with record label Sony BMG, according to a statement on the pop singer's website.

"The record industry has changed so much since I was first signed, and so have I," Hayes said. "I'm grateful for the opportunities given to me but am excited about the prospect of a fresh new start."

Hayes joined the label over 10 years ago as a member of phenomenally successful pop act Savage Garden, and has since sold over 24 million albums as both a member of the group and as a solo artist.

Hayes performs next week in Bangkok, before returning to the studio to record a new album, which is slated for a 2007 release.
