Interviewer: Here we are with Savage Garden, well, actually with Darren, the lead singer that came to promote the new album called Affirmation. Did I say it right ?

Darren: You did.

Interviewer: How are you and how do you feel to be here in Mexico. I think you've been here before, right ?

Darren: This is my 2nd time and I like it because she's very beautiful, isn't she ?

Interviewer: Oh My God ! I'm gonna get red ! Let's talk about Affirmation. Why did you choose this name ?

Darren: It's actually a title of a song in the record. This record is all about relationships, and so very personal and very true. And it's basically saying that life is all about moments. Some are beautiful and others difficult. But it's all good.

Interviewer: It's very personal. So have you had some bad moments lately ?

Darren: Of course I have. I've had some bad moments and some amazing moments. There are a lot of things that happened to me. This record is talking about a relationship I was in a broke down. There's also a song about my best friend's dad who passed away. But it's not all sad, you know, half of the record is like that and the other is up, fun and sexy. A mix of all things, you know...

Interviewer: Your first single is IKILY. I dunno if this is true but I read somewhere that in this song you don't feel exactly what it's saying. And that when you sing it you feel like very sad with this song. Why ?

Darren: No, no. It's funny because I'm feeling it now.I've met someone but at the time I wrote it I wasn't in love. It's about, you know Prince, don't you ? Well, I remember he talked about his wife and he said that he really believedhe wished her, that he dreamed her into life. And so she came into his life, and I thought it was a really beautiful story and that quite inspired the song

Interviewer: You have to be sad to write songs or you can be happy and have ideas, like a song in your mind ?

Darren: It helps if I'm sad because if I'm happy I don't wanna do work. Just go out and have fun. There are happy songs I wrote when I wasn't happy. I wrote them to get me happy. I think I'm always interested to write about the future or the past. Because if at the moment I'm happy, I just wanna be happy

Interviewer: Are you happy now ?

Darren: Very happy

Interviewer: Can you sing a little bit of a song you really like ?

Darren: *Funny Face* I've never done this before

Interviewer: Deeply, Madly, Truly

Darren: That was last time...

Interviewer: I know, but I really like that song...

Darren: Maybe later, maybe afterwards...

Interviewer: Ok

Darren: We'll do this afterwards

Interviewer: He says he'll sing the song later, that he doesn't want to sing now

*laughs*

Darren: Well, if you want to see me live, you can

Interviewer: Are you gonna invite me ?

Darren: Of course! I'll bring the whole band and we'll serenade you.

Interviewer: But September is so far away !

Darren: Actually, we'll be back in February, we might be appearing live on TV, but the actual concert tour will be in September

Interviewer: Then I'll get my song in February

Darren: Alright !

Interviewer: Well, thank you so much and say "Hi" to everybody in Latin America

Darren: Hi ! And thank you for being so sweet. We're coming back!
