Transcript of Brisbane, Australia Radio Station B105 Interview with Daniel when they premiered the first song from the Affirmation album - I Knew I Loved You - August 30, 1999
How many of us tuned in to listen to this interview on the internet? It was the first time we had heard any of the new songs from the Affirmation album. Daniel talked to the B105 morning crew and then they premiered the song. I remember the tears running down my face because the song was so beautiful and I was so proud of the guys and we had waited so long to hear to hear it. I knew this album was going to be special. Hope you enjoy :)

B105 DJ - Jamie: B105 Morning Crew. This is pretty special. We have the brand new single from the latest album for Savage Garden, and Daniel Jones is going to take our call.

DJ2: And its even more special cause we got his code name, the name that he actually registers in

Female DJ: In a hotel...

DJ2: A different name

Jamie: He's used this for a couple of years and we're gonna...This will be the last time it's used.

DJ2: Yeah. Whos there?

Receptionist: Kylie

DJ2: Hi Kylie. Mr E. Wok please

Kylie :One moment

Telephone rings twice

Daniel: (sounding like he just woke up *lol*) Hello?

Jamie: Ewok! Give me a break!

Daniel: Who is that? Oh hi guys (laughs)

Female DJ: What sort of name is E Wok?

Jamie: We never would have thought of that one!

Daniel: Well, Darren was trying to get me P. Leia for a while, for Princess Leia but I wasn't really into that one. (laughs)

Jamie: So how long have you been using this handle which we have now destroyed?

Daniel: Um, do I have to get another one? The last two years I suppose.

Female DJ: Oh really? You mean all the times we've been chasing you, all we had to go for was a Star Wars name? My goodness!

Daniel: (laugh) I tell you it used to get real confusing on the Asian promo trips! (all laugh)

Jamie: Oh yeah. Hey look, we can't tell you how much we appreciate your doing what you're doing for us this morning.

DJ2: Yeah it doesn't sound like we have woke you up at all! (laughs)

Daniel: (laughing) No you haven't!

Jamie: But this is the sort of thing that Savage Garden does for the B105 morning crew.

Daniel: Yeah it is.

Female DJ: So how are you guys?

Daniel: I'm good, I'm actually in Sydney, you obviously knew that. And actually there was some construction going on, there's construction going on everywhere here so I was up at about 5, 5:30 just dozing off so I knew that you...I had heard that you may call, so I'm glad you did.

DJ2: Mate, I saw you on I think it was the Current Affair

Daniel: Yeah, good good looking fellow aren't I?

Female DJ: Woo! baby!

DJ2: How's your budget on your clip? I mean, a pretend railway carriage, a pretend station, they both move?

Jamie: This is a Seinfeld connection isn't it?

Daniel: It is yeah. I think the episode where Elaine got a TV guide or something, was actually shot on the same train in the studio there. And to give a sense of the train moving, the actual platform in the background moves instead. So it was really quite amazing this whole studio set you know, and it worked visually for us really well.

Jamie: Hey coming from Logan it must have been strange to work on a train that didn't have graphete on it.

Daniel: (laughing) Oh, we took care of that Jamie! (laughs)

Female DJ: We'd expect nothing less, Daniel!

Jamie: Ok, so give us the program. What's happening for you guys while you are at home? Be it pretty briefly.

Daniel: We've pretty much got like a week of you know, radios, phone interviews and some press and things like that.

DJ2: I do want to speak to Darren because on the Current Affair he said We don't do it for the money. I just want to hit him on the head with a baseball bat! (laughs)

Daniel: (something like) I wasn't sure where that was coming from either. I know one of us is! (all laugh)

Jamie: And, are you happy with the way the albums turned out?

Daniel: Yeah I am actually yeah. I mean, I'm not gonna try and do the sales speech to everyone in Brisbane but, you know it is a great album, really really good album. I'm really happy with it.

Jamie: Well the last time we spoke to you, Ian and I couldn't believe how much like you've been 11 hours on one riff or something, just trying to get it right?

Daniel: Yeah, I still haven't got it right! (laughs)

Female DJ: Hey Daniel, I need to ask you a question. We get those mysterious faxes by someone who calls himself Angel wings. And this particular person has the low down on you like you wouldn't believe, and so far they've been proved to be absolutely correct. Do you know who Angel Wings is?

Daniel: No I haven't heard of her.

Female DJ: Cause they told me this was dated the 10th of August, and this particular person told me that Darren was in New York doing interviews, and you were coming home, what the name of the single was, and described it as a ballad very sweet, pure and simple, and when the album was gonna be out, and whoever this person is I love them because it gives me heaps of information

Daniel: I tell you, sweet, pure and simple, if it was taken from those words, it was probably up from the internet website.

Female DJ: Aaah!

Daniel: Yeah that was one of the...Leonie Messer, she was written all that up for us on the internet.

DJ2: You're playing..In the clip you're playing a nylon string guitar for it?

Daniel: Yeah, it's an old crudy thing, yeah It's better than yours though Jamie (laughs)

Jamie: Yeah, you wore the crick about out of it.

Jamie: Ok were gonna play the song now, so you wanna tell us a bit about it?

Daniel: Hum, yeah, this is probably the last song that we've actually written for this new album. It's a love song called "I knew I Loved You", and you know, have a listen, see what you think

Jamie: Here is it on B105

DJ2: Written by Darren for Daniel right?

Daniel: Yeah. Hey come on! None of that! (all laugh)
